SILVER SPRING, MD, July 19, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Gloria Bell Pendleton with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Pendleton celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Supported by professional experience, a strong education and her religious faith, Ms. Pendleton has excelled as lay minister for the Northminister Presbyterian Church since 1962. She initially became involved in her profession while serving in the United States Navy as a computer application programmer between 1950 and 1987. During her shifts, she was given bible scriptures by the analysts in her department. As an encouragement tactic, she and her co-workers were instructed to read scriptures when they would run into issues and needed reassurance. After retiring from the Navy as a computer systems programmer, Ms. Pendleton made the conscious decision to pursue another career field which led to her enrollment at Howard University in Washington D.C., where she earned a Master of Divinity in 1991.

Shortly after graduating from Howard University, Ms. Pendleton served as a pastoral counselor for various religious centers throughout greater Washington, D.C., between 1992 and 1996. Prior to this appointment, she secured a bachelor's degree in general studies from George Washington University, Washington, D.C., in 1977 and completed coursework with the Mid-Atlantic Association for Training and Consulting in Washington, D.C., between 1981 and 1983. Ms. Pendleton also spent time as a Protestant chaplain intern for the Commission on Mental Health with St. Elizabeth Hospital, George Washington University Hospital, and Washington Hospital Center, all in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Pendleton has been involved with the National Capital Presbytery, where she worked as the elder commissioner for the 211th and 215th General Assembly, among various other positions. Additionally, she contributed as a ruling elder and the chair of the worship committees at the Northwood Presbyterian Church, volunteered with the Pathways Schools in Silver Spring, and remained active in other Presbyterian organizations in the greater Washington, D.C., area. A member of the American Association of University Women, and the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, Ms. Pendleton maintains affiliation with the American Academy of Professional Coders and the Presbyterian Older Adult Ministries Network as well.

In 2006, Ms. Pendleton attended Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia, where she completed coursework in pastoral counseling. She later enrolled with the Lifelong Learning Institute at Montgomery College, Rockville, Maryland, completing the program in 2019. Outside of her professional career, Ms. Pendleton enjoys small group learning activities, traveling, reading, retreats, movies and theater in her spare time.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Ms. Pendleton has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
