Charles S. Fax is the co-author of a well-regarded treatise on civil discovery in the federal courts, Discovery Problems and Their Solutions, now in its third edition.

With more than 45 years of experience in law to his credit, Mr. Fax has become an authority in his profession and currently serves as a partner at Rifkin Weiner Livingston LLC. Mr. Fax began practicing law at the Washington D.C. law firm of Chapman Duff & Paul. Mr. Fax worked there as an associate from 1975 to 1979, and as a partner from 1979 to 1984. Mr. Fax then worked as a partner at Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur (from 1985-1989) and at Shapiro, Sher, Guinot & Sandler (from 1989-2006), where he as a member of the executive committee and co-chair of the litigation department. Mr. Fax served as special outside litigation counsel to the Baltimore City Mayor from 1994 to 1995; outside general counsel to Parents And Children Together from 1992 to 1998; an appointed mediator at the Circuit Court for Baltimore City from 1994 to 1998; and special outside litigation counsel to the Governor of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico from 1994 to 2001.

Prior to become an esteemed lawyer, Mr. Fax earned a Bachelor of Arts from The Johns Hopkins University in 1970 and a Juris Doctor, with Honors, from the George Washington University Law School in 1973. He was admitted to practice in New York and Washington, D.C., in 1974, and in Maryland in 1990. Mr. Fax was an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Baltimore School of Law from 2010-2015, and a regular columnist for the American Bar Association Section of Litigation magazine, Litigation News, from 2008-2018. He is the co-author of a well-regarded treatise on civil discovery in the federal courts, Discovery Problems and Their Solutions, now in its third edition. He is also the co-author of Maryland Discovery Problems and Solutions.

Apart from his career, Mr. Fax has engaged in extensive volunteer work in his community. He has served as a National Vice President and member of the National Board of the Jewish National Fund – USA, for many years, and has been an active volunteer for his alma mater, Johns Hopkins, where he is now serving as co-chair of the 50th Class Reunion.

Mr. Fax has received a number of accolades throughout his career. He was named one of Greater Washington's Legal Elite by Washington Smart CEO Magazine in 2006, and has been names as a SuperLawyer™ for the past ten years. Mr. Fax has been features in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
