Prior to this, he served the law firm as an equity partner from 1986 to 2006, a management committee member from 1992 to 1995, an income partner from 1981 to 1985, and an associate from 1975 to 1980. Alongside his primary career responsibilities, Mr. Miller was on the Special Task Force on Post-Employment Benefits with the Financial Accounting Standards Board in Norwalk, Connecticut, from 1987 to 1991.
Civically involved as well, Mr. Miller has been on the Chicago Council on Global Affairs since 1978, having previously maintained involvement with the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations on the President's Circle Steering Committee, the External Relations Committee, and the Development Committee. He was also active in myriad roles with the Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, including as chancellor, chair of the Trusteeship Committee, and trustee. During his tenure, Mr. Miller has further contributed articles to professional publications.
Earning a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Yale University in Connecticut and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Cornell University in New York, Mr. Miller has been licensed to practice law by the Illinois State Bar. Since 2011, he has served on the board of directors of the Center for Companies that Care, having also remained affiliated with the Nordic Law Club, the Worldwide Employee Benefits Network, the Cornell Club of Chicago, the Yale Club of Chicago, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
