With more than 50 years of experience in editing and publishing to his credit, Mr. Mason has become an authority in his industry. He began his career path as the branch chief of the CIA from 1948 to 1972 and the vice president of Telemark Dance Records from 1962 to 1972. Mr. Mason currently serves as the president of Telemark Dance Records and the founder of Rancho Bernardo H.S. Friends of the Library. Mr. Mason began his career path as a Russian specialist in the CIA from 1948 to 1972, retiring as a division chief and recipient of the CIA Certificate of Distinction. On three occasions from 1958 to 1965, he acted as an interpreter for the United States Technical Delegations to the Soviet Union. In 1962, he co-founded Telemark Dance Records and is currently its president. In 2004, he started Rancho Bernardo High School Friends of the Library.

Mr. Mason served as an ensign-lieutenant commander in the United States Naval Supply Corps Reserve. Prior to becoming an esteemed editor and publisher, he pursued higher education by completing coursework at Harvard University in 1943. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas in 1947 and a Master of Arts from Johns Hopkins University in 1948, as well as pursued postgraduate coursework at American University from 1969 to 1970. In 2015, he formed the Ukranian-America trade Association to promote trade between two countries. He also is President of the Curving Feather Music Publishers, which he co-founded in 1972 and continues volunteering in the schools. In his free time, he ballroom dances, studies foreign languages, bird watches and avidly follows politics. He has two children, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In his free time, Mr. Mason enjoys ballroom dancing, stamp collecting, playing chess and studying foreign languages.

Mr. Mason excelled as the founder, editor and publisher of Dance Week, the United States Ballroom Dancing Yearbooks for 1973 and 1975, the Potomac Ballroom newsletter, and the World Amateur Dance Magazine. In light of his many achievements in the field and in community service, he has received numerous accolades including induction into the United States DanceSport Hall of Fame, a Recognition Award from the Northeast Chapter of the United States Amateur Ballroom Dancing Association whom he served as president, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the United States Dance Foundation. Likewise, he was named Outstanding High School Volunteer of the Year and inducted into the Rancho Bernardo Hall of Fame in 2014.
