Herbert Zien has flourished as the co-chairman of LiquidCool Solutions since 2017, having previously served as the company's chief executive officer.

Mr. Zien has flourished as the co-chairman of LiquidCool Solutions since 2017, having previously served as the company's chief executive officer. While a graduate student he worked as a teaching assistant at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, between 1969 and 1971. Upon completion of his education, he contributed to First Realty Management in Boston as a property manager for two years. Joining Zien Mechanical Contractors as an engineer in 1974, Mr. Zien found success with this company in a number of posts as a project engineer, vice president, and president between 1975 and 1989.

In 1989 Mr. Zien founded American Resource Recovery in Milwaukee to develop and operate trash-to-energy plants, holding the position of president. He also founded Hohenwald Resource Recovery in Tennessee, serving as president from 1991 to 2001. In 1995 Mr. Zien joined A&C Enercom in Atlanta to implement energy conservation programs at electric utilities. When that company was acquired by Dominion Resources, a utility holding company, he joined Dominion's Evantage division, rising to the position of director. In 2002 Mr. Zien co-founded ThermalSource, LLC, in Milwaukee to acquire and operate district energy systems. ThermalSource was acquired by Thermal North America, Inc., where he served as senior vice president from 2005 to 2008. He also provided his wealth of expertise as the executive vice president of Trigen Companies, a Thermal North America subsidiary.

Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Zien pursued an education at Cornell University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering in 1969 as well as a Master of Science in 1971. He concluded his academic efforts with a Master of Science in management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1973.

An active member of his community, in the past Mr. Zien served on the City of Milwaukee Harbor Commission and the boards of Theater X, Wisconsin Heritages and Skylight Music Theatre. Currently Mr. Zien serves on the boards of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and Jewish Family Services.
