Supported by nearly five decades of practiced experience in accounting, Mr. Puri is a prominent tax consultant, internal auditor and accountant whose expertise in his profession is unparalleled. Most recently serving as a business and tax consultant from 1996 until his retirement in 2003, he previously excelled as the director of internal audit and an internal auditor with the Texas Workers' Compensation Commission in Austin, TX between 1990 and 1995. Prior to these roles, Mr. Puri was heavily involved in the aerospace industry with Lockheed Missiles & Space Company, working in such positions as a scientific programming specialist, a data processing specialist, a scientific programming analyst and a senior internal auditor between 1977 and 1988. Prior to these appointments, Mr. Puri found success in his native country of India as a customs officer for the Government of India in New Delhi from 1955 to 1960 and the assistant treasurer of Mercantile Bank Ltd. (Incorporated in England), from 1960 to 1965.
Upon immigrating to the United States in 1965, Mr. Puri was active as a staff member at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Company, CPAs, now known as KPMG LLP, in Seattle, WA, from 1969 to 1970. He then held the posts of a state examiner and assistant supervising state examiner for the state of Washington between 1970 and 1974 prior to accepting a position as a supervising state examiner for the Washington State Auditor's Office from 1974 to 1977. As recognized by The Bremerton Sun, The Washington CPA and the Spokane Valley Herald in 1976, he notably announced that he sought the office of state auditor as a Republican nominee within the state of Washington. The driving force behind his run for candidacy was his firm belief that better management was necessary within the Washington State Auditor's Office in order to cut down the backlog of audits. Running against 12-year incumbent Robert Graham, Mr. Puri had a distinct advantage against his opponent due to his status as a certified public accountant, whereas Mr. Graham did not hold such title. Impressively, Mr. Puri was the first certified public accountant to run for state auditor in the State of Washington.
During his campaign, Mr. Puri believed that he could better run the Washington State Auditor's Office by more efficient, timely and well-directed audits. His personal experience and close association with the office convinced him that the potential of saving the state of Washington millions of dollars was available through professional accounting and auditing management. Likewise, he had retained the knowledge that the annual audits, which were in arrears for several years, did not comply with state laws. Although he was not a household name much like Mr. Graham, these factors provided Mr. Puri with a distinct advantage over his opponent. He wholeheartedly believed that, at that point in time, the state of Washington deserved a highly skilled professional rather than a politician.

Upon traveling to Washington, he enrolled at the University of Washington, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration. Later on in his career, he graduated with a Master of Science in taxation from Golden Gate University. A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants from 1971 to 2007, Mr. Puri is also a lifetime member of the Republican National Committee and a former member of the California Society of CPAs, the Washington Society of CPAs, and taxation and numerous accounting and auditing committees.
As a testament to his professional prowess, Mr. Puri has garnered multiple accolades and honors. He received a Recognition of Outstanding Services as a Special Adviser from the United States Congressional Advisory Board, having previously accrued the Distinguished Leadership Award for Outstanding Dedication in the Defense of America in Cooperation with the President of the United States and 232 Members of Congress from the American Security Council Foundation. Featured twice in Who's Who in California, he was presented with a scholarship for graduate studies in Russian language and literature from the University of Washington. Notably, Mr. Puri has also been highlighted in Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who in the World.
Born in Punjab, India, in 1932, Mr. Puri is the proud father of three children: Neena, Veena and Ram. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing and playing tennis, as well as studying religious and spiritual literature. Looking toward the future, he intends to spend more time dedicated to selfless loving devotion to the Divine form of Supreme God.
