With nearly 50 years of professional experience, Ms. Schroeder was the database administrator for Carle Foundation Hospital from 1994 to 2017. Prior to obtaining this role, she was the director of information systems at Champaign Unit 4 Schools in Illinois from 1986 to 1994, benefit coordinator with Carle Foundation Hospital from 1983 to 1986, and personnel manager with the Universal Bleacher Co. from 1977 to 1983. Earlier in her career, she was an executive secretary and treasurer with the Danville Sanitary District from 1972 to 1977. She commenced her career as a programmer and analyst with Second National Bank from 1971 to 1972 and with Bohn Aluminum and Brass Corp. from 1968 to 1971.
Ms. Schroeder pursued an education with Eastern Illinois University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1982. She then joined Parkland College, where she earned an Associate of Science in business in 1983 and an Associate of Science in data processing in 1984. She continued her studies with Illinois State University, completing postgraduate coursework in 1985. She has been certified as a professional secretary.

She is a member of the National Association for Female Executives, the Society for Human Resource Management, and Associated Photographers International. She has also been active with the International Association of Administrative Professionals, the American Hosta Society and the American Quilter's Society. The former vice president of publications with the American Hosta Society, she also started the Illinois Prairie Hosta Society and served as president for five years, treasurer for 4 years, and membership chair for 2 years. She joined Midwest Regional Hosta Society in 2004 and has been Secretary, Treasurer, and Membership Chair for over 14 years. She is also active in many other professional and civic organizations working with Computers, Treasurer, and other positions. She has further been featured in numerous honors publications, including the 15th edition of Who's Who of American Women and the first edition of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
