P. William Dysinger Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. P. William Dysinger is currently the associate dean emeritus for the School of Public Health at Loma Linda University.

Having accrued over 60 years in the preventive medicine field, Dr. Dysinger is currently the associate dean emeritus for the School of Public Health at Loma Linda University, having recently served as the chairman of the board for Development Services International from 1992 to 2014. He previously served at Loma Linda University in the additional posts of a clinical professor emeritus and the director of the preventive medical residency in the School of Medicine from 1983 to 1988. He also served as the associate dean for academic affairs in the School of Public Health from 1971 to 1979, the assistant dean for academic affairs and international health from 1969 to 1971, and the assistant to the dean and the chairman of the department of tropical health from 1967 to 1969. Dr. Dysinger also found success with Loma Linda University from 1960 to 1967 as an administrative assistant for the division of public health, a field director in the Western Tanganyika research station, and a research associate in the department preventive medicine. His career began in 1955 as an intern in Washington before he became a senior assistant surgeon for the Indian Health Service in 1958 for the Blackfoot and Navajo indians.

Prior to his professional journey, Dr. Dysinger pursued his initial studies at Southern Adventist University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1951. He completed further coursework at Loma Linda University and earned a Doctor of Medicine in 1955. He concluded his academic experience at Harvard University in 1962, graduating with a Master of Public Health. He is certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine and is a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners.

Dr. Dysinger has also contributed his time and services as a medical consultant with the California Department of Vocational Rehabilitation from 1964 to 1988. He worked abroad as a mother and child health consultant for the Ministry of Health in Tanzania from 1974 to 1980 and as the medical director in the Village Health Program in Punjab, Pakistan, from 1980 to 1981, among other positions. A contributor to medical publications, he is the author of the books "Heavens Lifestyle Today" and "Health to the People."

A leader in his field, Dr. Dysinger was recognized as a World Health Organization fellow in Somalia, Ethiopia, India, Nepal and Burma in 1969. He was presented with a Distinguished Service Award from Southern Adventist University in 1999 and Loma Linda University in 2000. In 2012, he was honored as the Rural Health Practitioner of the Year by the Rural Health Association of Tennessee. He is a valued member of several professional organizations, including the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, the American Public Health Association, and the International Health Society, of which he was also the president.
