Having accumulated more than 40 years of experience in her field, Ms. Bagby currently serves as a consultant with Mitchell Technical Services in Murfreesboro, TN. She began her career as a medical technologist for both the Jeff Davis Memorial Hospital Clinical Laboratory and the Vicksburg Hospital Clinical Laboratory. Though she loved the bio medical field, having a young child at home prevented her from taking night calls at the emergency room. She decided to use her education in an environmental laboratory and excelled as plant manager for the Vicksburg Water Pollution Control Center for almost 20 years. She also found success as a laboratory manager for the same facility, resulting in a rewarding long-term career choice.
Outside of her immediate professional duties, Ms. Bagby was active as a consultant for the U.S Army Corp of Engineers, Research and Development from 1993 to 1995. In addition, she was a member of the advisory board of certification for the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality in Jackson. Within that role, she was also involved with the advisory board revolving fund from 1988 to 1994.
Prior to the beginning of her professional journey, Ms. Bagby began her studies at Hinds Community College, where she received an Associate of Arts in 1967. Continuing with her studies in science, she earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and biology in 1970 from Mississippi College. In the same year, Ms. Bagby was ASCP certified to become a medical technologist at the Street Clinic in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She is also a certified class IV pollution control operator in the state of Mississippi.
An established authority in her field, Ms. Bagby co-wrote the article, "Dewatering sewage sludge and hazardous sludge with geotextile tubes" for Geotec Associates. She has accepted the William D. Hatfield Award for outstanding performance and professionalism, as well as the W. Carroll Murphy Special Recognition Award, and the Arthur Sidney Bedell Award for Meritorious Service, among others. Ms. Bagby is also a member of numerous organizations, including but not limited to the Vicksburg/Warren Humane Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, Ashmead chapter, the Mississippi Water Environmental Association, and the Water Environment Federation. During her time with the latter organization, she held the posts of the first female president of MWEA, and the national director for WEF. She was also the first female president and board member for the Mississippi Water and Pollution Control Operators Association.
