Merri Lee Newby Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    HAVERTOWN, PA, August 09, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Merri Lee Newby with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Newby celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Exposed to various new concepts in health and wellness while working overseas in Taiwan after college as an English language teacher, Ms. Newby quickly became fascinated by eastern medicine. Teaching for two years in that capacity, upon her return to the U.S. in 1993, she found an opportunity to work at Asthma & Allergy Associates in Chester as a clinical research assistant. There, she learned the many complex aspects of the pharmaceutical business. Soon after, she was offered a position by a start-up company, Target Research Associates, in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. Performing medical writing, project management and education of site personnel, she remained with the company for eight years, until 2001. Presently, she is a self-employed medical research consultant and a medical writer part-time.

After Ms. Newby's tenure in the medical field, she took a sabbatical to raise her family. Since her return to the job market, she maintains a private oboe and piano studio and freelances as an oboist. Ms. Newby has played with the Lower Merion Symphony, the Merion Concert Band, the Livingston Symphony, the Upper Darby Sousa Band and the Delaware County Symphony in Aston. One of her greatest achievements was the 2013 completion of an English horn duet in three movements, entitled "Triptych".

Ms. Newby is a member of the American Association of University Women, the National Organization for Women and the Lafayette College Alumni Association. Active in her local community with several charitable and civic organizations, she has been involved with the Delaware County Symphony for many years. She chaired the symphony's Youth Concerto Competition, was personnel manager and serves on the symphony's board of directors. In 2018, she was elected president of the board. Ms. Newby is also a member and past president of the Merion Musical Society, past president of the MOMS Club of Havertown-East, as well as a member of The Arts Guild at Neumann University. Likewise, she has volunteered her time with the Leukemia Society and is a parishioner at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ardmore.

Ms. Newby received a bachelor's degree at Lafayette College in 1991. The recipient of a Lifetime of Music Achievement Award in 2018, she is also a celebrated Marquis listee who has been featured in the first edition of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America and the 21st through 23rd editions of Who's Who of American Women. Ms. Newby's avocations include writing, singing, running and aloe growing.
