HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO, August 14, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Dr. Jonathan Ormes with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Ormes celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An acclaimed physicist and educator, Dr. Ormes has excelled as a research professor at the University of Denver since 2004. Over the years, he has discovered unusual isotopic abundance of neon in galactic cosmic rays and conducted research on composition and energy spectra of cosmic rays, electrons, antiprotons and gamma rays from the Milky Way Galaxy. A lecturer on climate and astrophysics, he additionally developed a class on the physics of climate at the University of Denver. Prior to his current position, Dr. Ormes worked as the director of the Denver Research Institute from 2005 until 2009.

Between 1967 and 2004, Dr. Ormes found success in the field with the Goddard Space Flight Center at NASA in several positions, including a National Research Council associate, an astrophysicist, the head of the cosmic radiations branch, the head of the nuclear astrophysics branch, the associate chief and the chief of the laboratory for high-energy physics, and the director of space science, among others. Throughout his career, he has channeled his expertise into committee roles with the National Academy of Science in addition to his efforts as an educator with the University of Utah and the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Even though his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Ormes is especially proud of an experiment he conducted with his colleagues; they thought cosmic rays were like the abundances of nuclei, but they discovered that the isotope neon did not fit the pattern.

Prior to starting in the field, Dr. Ormes earned a Bachelor of Science from Stanford University in 1961. Subsequently, he graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Minnesota in 1967. He maintains his professional alignment with the American Physical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the American Astronomical Society and the International Astronomical Union. Dr. Ormes has also provided his time and resources to the Unitarian Universalist Church as the chair of the board of trustees and a trustee.

With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, Dr. Ormes edited "Essays in Space Science" in 1987, found success as an associate editor for Physical Review Letters between 1991 and 1993 and contributed his research to articles in professional journals, including the Astrophysics Journal as well as Astronomy and Astrophysics. For his outstanding achievements, he was honored with various project-related awards between 1970 and 2004. Apart from his professional legacy, Dr. Ormes is especially proud of his wife, Janet; his three children, Kylee, Marina, and Nicholas; and his grandchildren, Nathan, Kelsey, Conrad, Emily, Gwyneth and Ethan.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Jonathan Ormes has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
