Theresa Lee-Whiting Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    BINGHAMTON, NY, August 14, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Theresa Lee-Whiting with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Whiting celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Supported by professional excellence and an educational background, Ms. Lee-Whiting has flourished as a music educator and conductor for 20 years. Currently working as the director of music ministries at the Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Binghamton, New York, since 2002, she has also contributed as a legal assistant for Hinman, Howard & Kattell LLP since 2004. Prior appointments include serving as an adjunct music instructor with Binghamton University, a music director for the Binghamton German Club, and a choral music teacher at the Hancock Central School District in New York, between 1999 and 2002.

In addition to her primary vocation, Ms. Lee-Whiting has taught private vocal lessons in New York during 2003, and contributed as a community theater director in Delhi, New York, from 1995 to 1998. Civically, she is involved with The Madrigal Choir of Binghamton as a singer and Board Member. During 2006, she was the lead choir conductor for the 34th Triennial Saengerfest in New York. A member of the Center for Black Music Research, Ms. Lee-Whiting is additionally affiliated with the American Choral Directors Association, Chorus America and the American Musicological Society.

Prior to embarking on her career, Ms. Lee-Whiting graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Music in education, with a vocal emphasis, in 1981. She further secured a Master of Music in choral conducing, music history and literature from Binghamton University in 2005. During this time, Ms. Lee-Whiting completed a graduate teaching assistantship with the university from 2002 and 2004 which included conducting the Women's Chorus for three semesters and teaching Music Appreciation for one semester. Upon graduation, she worked for a few years as an adjunct instructor at Binghamton University and SUNY Broome, teaching Music Appreciation. She also conducted the Area All-State Women's Chorus at Hartwick College in 2006.

One of the highlights of Ms. Lee-Whiting's career was held in May 2019, at Trinity Memorial Church in Binghamton with The Madrigal Choir and other local choirs. This community event was a celebration of the life and music of the late African-American composer Moses Hogan, and she was responsible for the coordination of the music and every aspect of the event. She has also been on Binghamton's Juneteenth Committee for the past three years where she is responsible for coordinating music for the Friday night Inspirational Music event.

An exceptional Marquis listee, Ms. Lee-Whiting has been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who of American Women.
