An accomplished listee, Mrs. Munson celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Leading an illustrious career as an interior designer and decorator for more than 50 years, Mrs. Munson established her own business, Virginia Munson Interiors, in 1967. Located in Lake Forest, IL, she serves as the owner and the president responsible for the day to day operations of running her business, as well as working closely with clients to achieve their goals. Renowned for her work, Mrs. Munson enjoyed the opportunity to work on many great projects over the years. Her favorite, perhaps, was decorating an apartment for the Pullman Company retained for their customers in the John Hancock Building in Chicago.

Involved with a broad range of charitable and civic organizations, Mrs. Munson served on the Board of the Dumbarton House, the Headquarters for The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America located in Washington, D.C., from 2007 to 2019. She was the President of The National Society of The Colonial Dames in America in the State of Illinois from 1982 to 1984, and was on their Roll of Honor, and on their Board of Directors from 1978 to 2019. She was the Illinois Regent to Gunston Hall in Lorton, VA from 1997 to 2005. Additionally, Mrs. Munson was Associate Trustee to Friends of Sulgrave Manor in Sulgrave, England from 1994 to 1996. She has served in many capacities with the Church of The Holy Spirit in Lake Forest, including on their Altar Guild since 1970. She served as President of the Lake Forest Chapter of the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago from 1978 to 1980.

Honored with a Certificate of Merit for outstanding contributions to her community in the field of human relations in 1965, Mrs. Munson later received recognition for her service to the City of Lake Forest, which was granted by the Historic Preservation Commission. She was notably a member of the Commission from 2005 to 2011. Additionally, Mrs. Munson was honored in 2012 by The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Illinois with a Special Recognition Citation for exceptional service to the community. She is the only person to receive this honor.

In her academic efforts, Mrs. Munson graduated from Bennett Junior College in Millbrook, NY, where she obtained her Associate of Arts in 1952. She was an allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers between 1979 and 2014. She has also been active with several avocational organizations such as the Society of Mayflower Descendants and the Contemporary Club of Chicago.
