She began her career path as a graduate instructor at East Carolina University from 1991 to 1993, a librarian at the Wayne County Public Library from 1993 to 1995, a library director with the United States Air Force from 1995 to 2001, and a marketing/community relations chief at Seymour Johnson AFB from 2001 to 2012. Ms. DeMark completed her federal civil service career in 2014 after two years as a public affairs officer with the Veterans Health Administration in North Carolina.
Ms. DeMark served in the United States Air Force and Army federal civil service throughout her career. Prior to becoming an esteemed consultant and public speaker, she pursued higher education with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from East Carolina University in 1984. Ms. DeMark then earned a Master of Library and Information Science from East Carolina University in 1993. Ms. DeMark is certified as a public librarian in North Carolina, a public affairs officer for the USAF and the emergency management institute. Ms. DeMark also received the Festival Event and Management Certificate from the Strom Thurmond Institute in 1994. Ms. DeMark has owned and operated a women-owned event production company since 1990. As a hobby, she is a certified beekeeper and educator in NC. To her publication credits, Ms. DeMark authored, "An Introduction to Computerized Resources and Database Searching in an Academic Library" in 1993 and the editor for the "North Carolina Beekeepers Association Yellow Book – 100th Anniversary Edition" in 2017.
In light of her many achievements, Ms. DeMark has received a number of awards and accolades throughout her career. She earned public affairs officer recognition from the USAF Thunderbirds and US Navy Blue Angels. Another career highlight was recognition by USAF Air Combat Command for initiating implementation of children's computer labs in Air Force libraries. Ms. DeMark has been featured in several editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Education.
