Mary Ann Klein Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    GARDEN CITY, NY, August 21, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Mary Ann Klein with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mrs. Klein celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Mrs. Klein retired from her position as a Resource Room teacher and learning disabilities specialist in the Merrick Union Free School District in Merrick, New York, after 29 years. She currently tutors and teaches piano privately, and is a Second Grade Faith Formation teacher and Coordinator for the Church of Saint Anne in Garden City, New York. During her career, she was also a clinician and diagnostician at the Adelphi University Reading Clinic in Garden City, New York, special education representative for the Birch Child Study Team in Merrick and an educational consultant in both Westbury and Merrick.

Throughout her academic career, Mrs. Klein worked with students and adults in various extracurricular environments. She was a private piano instructor and a swimming instructor for disabled children and adults. She also lent her expertise on the Merrick PTA, SEPTA, and Committee on Special Education, as well as the Birch Crisis Intervention Team and the "Banana Splits" Program for students who have experienced divorce or death. Further, Mrs. Klein served on Students Against Destructive Decision-Making and founded the Peer Tutoring Program at the Birch School in Merrick.

The co-author of "Foundations of Learning," a curriculum guide published in 1991, Mrs. Klein later authored and taught the graduate level course "Strategies to Assist Learning Disabled Children in the Classroom Setting". She also authored a chapter in the book "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Hope and Miracles," called 'Glimpse of Heaven.'

An alumna of Adelphi University, Mrs. Klein received a Bachelor of Arts in elementary and special education, Summa Cum Laude, in 1978, and a Master of Science in special education and reading, with Distinction, in 1980. She is a certified private special education reading instructor and special education evaluator for ages five through adult.

Mrs. Klein is a member of the Nassau Reading Council, the Council for Exceptional Children and Kappa Delta Pi. Honored with the Nassau County Certified Distinguished Service Award, she later received the Kiwanis Teacher of the Year Award in 2002, the New York State Parent Teacher Association Founder's Day Award, and the NY PTA Distinguished Service Award in 2004. She was also honored by the Birch School with the establishment of the Mary Ann Klein Scholarship Award, given annually to students who exemplify her caring and peer mentoring.

A celebrated Marquis listee, Mrs. Klein has been featured in numerous editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who among America's Teachers, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
