Following a formative education on the intricacies of art history, she attended the College of Central Florida and earned an Associate of Arts in 1981. She continued her studies, securing a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in 1985. She concluded her academic pursuits with a Master of Education from Tusculum University in 1997.
Ms. Blake has excelled as an artist since 1975, and her work has been exhibited in numerous shows throughout the United States, including in such shows as the Artist Colony Show in Homosassa, Florida, the Louisiana Society of the Arts Show in Baton Rouge, and the Texas Women for the Arts Show. Ms. Blake has also been a gallery representative for The Corner Gallery. A certified teacher in the state of Virginia, Ms. Blake also taught art for the Washington County Public Schools in Abingdon, Virginia, from 1989 until her retirement in 2011.
A member of the Art Depots Association of Abingdon, Virginia, Ms. Blake maintains professional affiliation with the William King Museum of Art, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the Black's Fort chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Washington County Historical Society, among other notable organizations. Previously, she volunteered her time as a mentor for the Washington County Public Schools and she is an active attendant of the Pleasant View United Methodist Church. Boasting a green thumb, Ms. Blake enjoys gardening in her spare time.
