With boundless creativity and desire to entertain, Ms. Hughes has excelled as a performer for many years. When she first began in entertainment as a child, Ms. Hughes acted in several plays at the Alley Theatre, was cast as John Wayne's niece in the movie "Hellfighters" and performed as Young Alma in Summer and Smoke. She went on to become a scholarship student at The Houston Ballet Academy and School of American Ballet (NYC). She graduated high school early to dance with the Houston Ballet at the age of 16. A year later she became a principal dancer with the Eliot Feld Ballet (NYC) who created several works for her. In 1979, she joined the American Ballet Theatre performing many soloist roles.

Although her ballet career has been filled with highlights, she is especially proud of having ballets choreographed on her by Eliot Feld at the beginning of her career, having the privilege of working with amazing and varied choreographers and portraying the role of Myrta in "Giselle" with American Ballet Theatre.

Ms. Hughes has appeared on Broadway as Gloria Upson in "Mame", as Cassie in "A Chorus Line", as Charity in "Anything Goes", "On Your Toes" and "Raggedy Ann." Regional Theatre experiences have included Sister Leo in "Nunsense" at the Coconut Grove Playhouse, Cassie in the World Tour of "A Chorus Line", Ruby Keeler in "Lullaby of Broadway" at the Jazz Bakery and in "Ondine" at The Powerhouse Theatre. In films, she worked in Alice, A Chorus Line, The Human Quality and Portfolio. A talented industry veteran, she performed on "Saturday Night Live" and "Veronica's Closet" as well as recurring as Fiona on the soap opera "Another World" and several other soap opera appearances. She partnered with Mikhail Baryshnikov on the PBS "Gershwin Gala", as well as being featured in the PBS "Dance in America" with the Feld Ballet and The Kennedy Center Honors. Ms. Hughes has also been seen in over 100 television commercials.

In the 80's, the early days of MTV, Michaela was in several well known rock videos such as Pat Benatar's "Love is a Battlefield", Jermaine Jackson's "Dynamite" and Barry Manilow's "Read 'em and Weep".

In addition to her performing career, Ms. Hughes has excelled behind the camera as well, writing and directing numerous short films that have been presented at numerous film festivals.

More recently she channeled her creativity into abstract art on canvas. Her art work can be viewed on line at MichaelaHughesArt.com. Over the years, Ms. Hughes has had her work shown at the Kate Moriarty Fine Art Gallery, MWO Gallery, Encino Terrace, TheVortex, and the Topanga Canyon Gallery winning several Best of Show and monetary awards.

Ms. Hughes has maintained professional associations with the Screen Actors Guild, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Women Painters West and American Women Artists. In light of all her accomplishments, she has been honored many times throughout her career, earning features in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Entertainment and Who's Who in American Women.
