Dr. Seagle became an independent environmental engineering consultant in Rockville, Maryland, following his retirement as a public health engineer with the Maryland Department of the Environment in Baltimore. Joining the Department in 1985 after various assignments with the U.S. Public Health Service in Rockville, the North Carolina State Board of Health in Raleigh and the City of Charlotte Health Department in North Carolina, Dr. Seagle spent 55 years in his field.
During Dr. Seagle's professional journey, he was involved in various capacities with the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS), the North Carolina State Health Department, the National Academy of Sciences and the Maryland State Health Department. However, it was early in his career during the 1950s that he remembers best. Assigned to the Atomic Energy Commission to work on the nuclear test site in Nevada, it was a very interesting environmental project that he found to be quite rewarding.
A World War II veteran, Dr. Seagle served in the U.S. Navy between 1943 and 1946. He soon after acquired a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry in 1949 and Master of Science in public health in 1954 from the University of North Carolina. He also received a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Florida in 1961 and a Doctor of Public Health from the University of Texas in 1974. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Alabama.
A diplomate of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists, Dr. Seagle is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Public Health Association. Dr. Seagle received a Commendation Medal from the USPHS in light of his exceptional undertakings. A celebrated Marquis listee, he has been featured in approximately 35 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the East.
