Dr. Robert R. Schenck was the recipient of a Distinguished Achievement Award from Taylor University in 2019.

Schenck, MD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Schenck celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. An accomplished surgeon, Dr. Schenck began his career at Rush University in Chicago, Illinois, as an attending assistant in plastic and orthopedic surgery, while directing the section of hand surgery, in 1972. Eight years later, he became the attending associate of plastic and orthopedic surgery, further serving as the attending senior of plastic and orthopedic surgery since 1985. Moreover, he was a professor of plastic surgery at Rush University until attaining emeritus status in 2008. Dr. Schenck also contributed as president of the Holland Society of New York from 2014 to 2016.

Other professional endeavors to Dr. Schenck's credit include serving as president of Hand Therapy Ltd. in Chicago for 10 years and working as a consultant of orthopedic and general surgery for West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Illinois, from 1973 to 2008. In a career filled with highlights, Dr. Schenck was proud to have replanted the finger of an 8-year-old boy whose finger was partially amputated in 1958. He is also the inventor of a dynamic traction for finger fractures.

Civically, Dr. Schenck dedicated a portion of his time to The Hand Surgery Endowment and the Bishop Anderson House. Additionally, he has volunteered as an instructor of hand surgery throughout Sub-Saharan Africa, Mongolia and Armenia between 2008 and 2011. From 1957 to 1959, he served in the United States Public Health Service as a senior surgeon. A published author, his book "Dutch Treat! Why Did the Dutch Come to North America" was released in 2017. In light of his exceptional undertakings, he was the recipient of a Distinguished Achievement Award from Taylor University in 2019. Likewise, Dr. Schenck has been selected for inclusion in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in the Midwest.

An alumnus of Taylor University, Dr. Schenck earned a bachelor's degree, with honors, in 1952. Three years later, he graduated from the University of Illinois, Chicago, with a Doctor of Medicine. To remain aware of developing trends in the field, Dr. Schenck maintains membership with the American Association of Hand Surgery. Additionally, he is a diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Outside of work, he enjoys photography, art and sculpting.
