Kannan with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Kannan celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A retired teacher and assistant principal, Ms. Kannan devoted 35 years to education. Teaching for Derry School District in New Hampshire during the first three years of her career, she spent the remainder of her years as both a teacher and assistant principal for the Lawrence School Systems in Massachusetts between 1970 and 2002. Throughout her career, she served as a curriculum developer for grades three, four and five and was involved with the elementary education curriculum for the Addison Gallery-Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts.

An alumnus of Suffolk University in Boston, Ms. Kannan received a Bachelor of Science in 1967. Returning to college years later, she acquired a Master of Arts in education from the University of Massachusetts in Salem in 1996. She is notably a member of Phi Kappa Phi, citing her membership to be a career achievement.

Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Ms. Kannan grew up as a child of immigrants. She, alongside her five siblings, were blessed to be afforded more opportunity than their parents were. In fact, her mother taught her how to read, which later became the inspiration for her to go on and become a teacher later in life.

A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Kannan has been featured in the 26th and 27th editions of Who's Who of American Women.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Ms. Kannan has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
