He also finds success as a conference speaker, a bible teacher, and a writer for Biblical Faith Ministries. Dr. Cooper previously held the title of the president at the Institute of Judaic-Christian Research from 1985 to 1992. Prior to those positions, he worked as a field representative for the Institute for Judaic-Christian Research from 1974 to 1985. Additionally, he held the post of educational director at the Temple Baptist Church.
Dr. Cooper pursued an education at the Bible Baptist Seminary, earning a Bachelor of Divinity in 1963. He completed additional coursework at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he received a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in 1970 and 1974, respectively. He concluded his academic efforts at the Louisiana Baptist University in 2009, graduating with Doctor of Philosophy.
A contributor of articles to professional journals, Dr. Cooper is the author of "Candle Drippings: Musings from My Mind and Other Itinerant Places," published in 2014. He was presented with the Good Shepherd Award in 1984 by the Association of Baptists for Scouting. Outside of his immediate professional responsibilities, Dr. Cooper is an active member of the Society of Biblical Literature, the Evangelical Theological Society, and the Near Eastern Archaeological Society. Moreover, he is a charter member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
