With more than 40 years of professional experience, Ms. Curtis has been retired since 1998, having been a kindergarten teacher with the Berea City School District since 1971. Prior to obtaining this role, she was a kindergarten teacher with the Parma City School District from 1958 to 1960. Earlier in her career, she was a reading tutor with the Parma City School District from 1957 to 1958. In addition to primary roles, she was grade level chair at the Riveredge School from 1986 to 1990.
Ms. Curtis first pursued an education with Hiram College, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1957. She continued her studies with Kent State University, earning a Master of Education in 1961. Following these accomplishments, she completed coursework with both Baldwin Wallace University and Mexico City College. She is a life certified teacher and in guidance and counseling.
A respected voice in her areas of interest, Ms. Curtis has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. She is a fellow of the Kent State University Alumni Association, the University Club of Cleveland and Phi Delta Kappa International. Notably, she has also served as president of the Hiram College Club of Women and is the secretary and a choir member of the Brecksville United Methodist Church. In the late 1960s, she was president of the Faculty Wives Association of Cuyahoga Community College and served on the advisory board of the Higbee County when they opened in Parmatown. She was also a member of the women's committee of the Cleveland Orchestra. Ms. Curtis is a patron of the musical arts, Cleveland Ballet and Cleveland Opera.
Throughout her career, Ms. Curtis has been recognized for her achievements. She has received awards and accolades for her contributions. In light of all her accomplishments, she has been featured in numerous honors publications, including Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in the Midwest.
