More than 25 years in financial management have rendered Mr. Morris-Smith an authority in his industry and the current Managing Director of Shared Advisor. Previously, he excelled as the Chief Financial Officer of Mission Australia from 2008 to 2014, the Director of finance integration & program office at UTC Fire & Security from 2004 to 2008, General Manager, Finance Australia and Pacific 2002 -2004, Director of Global Business Services at Honeywell International in 2000 -2002. Prior to his move to Australia in 1999, Mr. Morris-Smith found success as the director of financial operations at American Express from 1995 to 2000, Group Finance Director for the Crauford Group PLC and was the youngest Finance Director at Oakley Investments Group in London 1991- 1994.
Mr. Morris-Smith served in the Royal Air Force cadets whilst at Wellingborough School from 1980 to 1983. Prior to becoming an esteemed financial director, he pursued higher education with an honorary Bachelor of Arts ( Economics, Geography, Economic Geography and Quantitative Techniques) from the University of Hull in 1987. Mr. Morris-Smith was certified as a chartered accountant in England and Wales in 1991 and completed coursework at the Melbourne Business School between 2011 and 2012. He was awarded the Vincent Fairfax Fellowship in Ethical Leadership.
In 2016, Mr. Morris-Smith undertook A Graduate Diploma in Education ( Secondary) at the University of the Sunshine Coast, with distinction.
A professional with purpose and passion, Mr. Morris-Smith volunteered prolifically in his field and community. He sat on the board of finance committee at Arrow Leadership from 2014 to 2019 and a member of the parish council at Saint Matthew's Anglican Church. Likewise, Mr. Morris-Smith was the director of Trinity Youth and Community Services which initiated Skate-Aid charity (assisting school children to engage with education) the director of 106.5 FM Sunshine Coast (a Christian community radio station) and director of the Mental health charity One Wave which enabled reach out to young and old against the stigma of mental health and suicide, through surfing. He also consulted to assist a number of small start-up companies in the non-for-profit arena and became "a non-for-profit genius". One of his ultimate achievements as Director for Walk-a-while was the set-up of Memory Mountain Pty Ltd a company for indigenous local families to have a business in tourism to engage and sustain their local language and culture and assist with their own vision for a cross to be placed on a mountain in the geographical centre of Australia. His purpose and passion has enabled this to commence. He became adopted by the local tribe for his work and success and love of Australia, he called home.
Mr.Morris-Smiths legacy commenced on the day he passed after a short intense illness on February 2nd 2019, for many to follow in his footsteps and qualities. Gone way too soon, very missed, with much for others to admire his achievements.
