An acclaimed psychologist, Dr. Crisp began in the field as a psychotherapist for Arbours Center in London, with which she worked from 1983 until 1985. Upon the conclusion of her role, she transferred to Augusta, Maine and served as a clinical psychologist at the Kennebec Valley Mental Health Center between 1987 and 1990, and with the Overlook Mental Health Center between 1990 and 1993. While serving with the aforementioned organization, Dr. Crisp concurrently taught at Knoxville University of Tennessee as an adjunct assistant professor. She subsequently gained valuable expertise in private practice and as a clinical psychologist for North Knox Health Center at Cherokee Health Systems.
Prior to embarking upon her professional career, Dr. Crisp attended the University of Tennessee, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1976. Continuing her education, she received a Master of Arts from Michigan State University in 1981, after which she was appointed to her first psychology position. Whilst active at the Arbours Center, she completed a Doctor of Philosophy at Michigan State University in 1984. To keep aware of changes in the field, Dr. Crisp affiliates herself with the British Psychological Society, the Society of Psychotherapy Research, the New York Academy of Sciences and the American Psychological Association.
Due to her outstanding accomplishments, Dr. Crisp has been honored with an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as features in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who of American Women, among others. Following her retirement in 1998, Dr. Crisp reoriented her focus back towards the pursuit of fine arts, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio arts in sculpture from the University of Tennessee in 2004. Since then, she has worked extensively with numerous artistic mediums, utilizing wood, stained glass, stone carving, sculpture, glass, and iron.
