Since 1990, she has been operating out of her private practice in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Likewise, Dr. McNulty has worked as a clinical supervisor for doctoral students with Fairleigh Dickinson University Integrated Healthcare program since 2012.
Having accomplished much throughout the years, Dr. McNulty considers the highlight of her career to be her experience with a spiritual moment with one of her patients nearly 15 years ago that inspired her to combine spirituality with psychotherapy. Prior to attaining her current roles, she found success as a psychologist on staff and remains affiliated with Saint Joseph's Hospital Medical Center as well as in her private practice in Rutherford, New Jersey. Earlier in her career, she cultivated her skills as a clinical social worker with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the Bergen County Division of Family Guidance and the Cliffwood Medical Center. Dr. McNulty began her career with the Belleville Mental Health Clinic as a mental health aide in 1980.
Well-regarded in her field, Dr. McNulty has contributed her wealth of expertise to numerous articles published in professional journals. She has also served as a consultant for Meadowlands Weight Control and Saint Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center. Furthermore, Dr. McNulty has maintained her involvement in her community as a volunteer and three term president for her ambulance corps, and as an emergency medical technician (EMT) with her local Ambulance Corps. for over ten years.
Having always been a compassionate child, Dr. McNulty was inspired to enter her industry when she was 13 years old. Pursuing a formal education at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1980, she subsequently obtained a Master of Social Work from Smith College in 1984. She concluded her studies at the Fielding Graduate University, completing postgraduate coursework between 2001 and 2009. A licensed psychologist in New York and New Jersey since 1998, Dr. McNulty is also licensed as a marriage and family therapist and clinical social worker.
In an effort to remain aware with developments in her field, Dr. McNulty has maintained her affiliation with a number of professional organizations. She notably holds membership with the American Orthopsychiatric Association, the Academy of Certified Social Workers, the National Association of Social Workers, the American Psychological Association, and the New Jersey Psychological Association. In light of all her accomplishments, Dr. McNulty has previously been featured in Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
Born in Hackensack, New Jersey, to Alfred Edward McNulty and Gertrude Natalie Currie, Dr. McNulty has been happily married to Henry Stanislaw Kowal since 1988. Together, they are the proud parents of three children: Eryn, Kelsey and Shawn. In her free time, Dr. McNulty enjoys painting, singing, sports and poetry.
