Dr. Kime is an applied physicist whose humble beginnings involved working as a research assistant for the Atomic Energy Commission in 1965. He subsequently found success as a research scientist for Simulation Physics, Inc. a corporate program manager for Polaroid, where he spent the majority of his career between 1979 and 1995, and as the chairman of Microcontinuum Inc. prior to his retirement from the field in 2000. During this time, Dr. Kime also established Kime Associates Investments (KAI Company) as the president in 1996.
Enjoying a very long and diversified career, Dr. Kime had the good fortune of making his very first discovery, which included a new, isomeric nuclei while he was in college working on his thesis experiments. A very inspirational time in his life, he was eager to continue his work in science-based technological innovation, just as his father and grandfather had before him. He has been additionally involved with the research and development of nuclear structure, radiation effects, nuclear instrumentation, medical diagnostic imaging, electronic patient records, optical storage and radiation therapy. Dr. Kime has also conducted research in fiber optics, holography and lithography, optical storage, nuclear instrumentation and space vehicles, among other studies.
Dr. Kime initially pursued an education at Princeton University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, with honors, in 1965. He later earned a Doctor of Philosophy in nuclear science at Cornell University in 1971 and a Master of Business Administration at Harvard University in 1972. Furthermore, Dr. Kime became certified as a senior reactor operator.
Maintaining his affiliation with several industry-related organizations, Dr. Kime is a lifetime member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the American Physical Society. In 1969, he accepted an award from the American Nuclear Society for his accomplishments in a graduate paper competition. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Kime has been featured in the first edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
