Thomas Wedekind Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Mental Health Services

Thomas Wedekind has been included in Marquis Who's Who for his service in the field of mental health.



For his outstanding accomplishments, Mr. Thomas Wedekind was honored with the Albion Wood Small Prize in Sociology.

    SAINT PETERSBURG, FL, October 04, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Thomas Wedekind has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Now a special service consultant, Mr. Wedekind served as the executive director of Personal Enrichment through Mental Health Services for more than 30 years, culminating in his role as chief executive officer in 2012. Experienced in behavioral health administration, he oversaw strategic goals, networking and program growth for Personal Enrichment through Mental Health Services. Additionally, he was able to spearhead the mission of the agency in changing environments. Over the years, Mr. Wedekind also served as a field instructor for Case Western Reserve University and a sociology professor for Hillsborough Community College and St. Petersburg College.

Before beginning his career in the field, Mr. Wedekind earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology, with honors, from Colby College in 1969. Subsequently, he attended the University of Chicago, graduating with a Master of Social Work in social service administration, with honors, in 1973. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he was affiliated with the National Association of Certified Social Workers, the Florida Council of Community Health, the Florida Association of Mental Health Administrators, the Association of Healthcare Executives and the National Association for the Mentally Ill. A steadfast community advocate, Mr. Wedekind has also contributed to the Donaldson Institute and previously a member of Lifeline Steering Committee and National Suicide Prevention Line.

Due to his considerable expertise, Mr. Wedekind has had the opportunity to contribute to several articles regarding the topics of hospital and community psychiatry. For his outstanding accomplishments, he was honored with the Albion Wood Small Prize in Sociology. Looking toward the future, Mr. Wedekind intends to pursue other projects regarding crisis intervention services.
