LAMBERTVILLE, NJ, October 07, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present John Goodyear with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Goodyear celebrated many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Goodyear established a successful career as a fine artist, and exhibited his work in a large number of museums, galleries and institutions across three continents since as early as 1964. He knew he wanted to go into art since he was a child, citing Johannes Vermeer as his inspiration, and his best known achievement has been his work with kinetic art, which is artwork that moves. One of his most important shows was "Art of the Responsive Eye" in the 1960s, which was very favorably reviewed by a critic, Brian O'Doherty, and sold out before it opened. In the last few years alone, he exhibited at prestigious galleries in both North America and Europe, including the Berry Campbell Gallery in New York between 2015 and 2018, the David Richard Gallery in Santa Fe, NM, in 2015, the RCM Galerie in Paris, France, in 2015, and the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton and the Hunterdon Art Museum in Clifton, NJ, in 2013.

After receiving a full scholarship in 1947, Mr. Goodyear attended the University of Michigan and earned a bachelor's degree in 1952 and a master's degree in 1954, both in design. Immediately following his graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army and stationed in Japan, where he served for two years. In the 1970s, he received a fellowship from the Center for Advanced Visual Studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA. He has been a member of American Abstract Artists since 1976, and was co-curator of a show, alongside his wife, titled "Dada Country" at the Hunterdon Art Museum in 2000.

To supplement his artwork in international exhibitions, Mr. Goodyear began working as an instructor at the University of Michigan from 1956 to 1962. He then relocated to Massachusetts to teach at the University of Massachusetts for two years before permanently moving to New Jersey to begin teaching as a professor at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, in 1964. During this time, he was promoted as the university's chair of the art department and stayed in this position until his retirement in 1997. He was commissioned several works and was awarded a major retrospective by the Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, PA, in 2000. He is listed in numerous editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World. John Goodyear passed away on July 9, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anne Dixon and two daughters, Sarah Goodyear-La Grange and Amy.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, John Goodyear has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
