Peter Vaira Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    PHILADELPHIA, PA, October 07, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Peter Vaira with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Vaira celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. His career started in 1963, serving as a Navy Judge Advocate Officer for five years. He served as legal officer in Subic Bay, Philippines, legal officer for a sea going task force of ten ships in the Mediterranean Sea, and appellate counsel for defendants in Navy and Marine courts martial in the Office of the Judge Advocate General in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Vaira had a full career in the U.S. Department of Justice. He served for ten years in the Organized Crime Section, as Attorney in Charge of the both the Philadelphia and Chicago Strike Forces on Organized Crime. Without any political backing, The Attorney General of the United States chose him for the position of United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania where he served in both the Carter and Reagan administrations for over five years.

Mr. Vaira sits as a Special Master for the Commerce Court of Philadelphia, hearing matters involving discovery, conflict of interest, attorney client privilege, attorney sanctions, and acting as a Receiver in Litigation and Receiver in Liquidation, mediator and arbitrator. He also acts as special counsel to federal courts, and as local counsel in federal and state courts for attorneys who appear pro hac vice.

Mr. Vaira has expertise in federal and Pennsylvania state grand juries, and has been instrumental in causing the Supreme Court and Pennsylvania Legislature to begin the process of amending the Pennsylvania state grand jury statute.

Mr. Vaira has a long history of public service including acting as the Independent Hearing Officer for the Laborers International Union of North America, and as the Executive Director of the Philadelphia Mayor's Independent Commission to examine a building collapse that killed seven persons and injured 13 others.
