An accomplished listee, Dr, Meisels celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. A native of Vienna, Austria, Dr. Meisels completed undergraduate coursework at the University of Vienna in 1949. Upon relocating to the United States, he received a Master of Science in 1952 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1956, both from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.

At the start of his career, Dr. Meisels served as a postdoctoral research associate for the University of Notre Dame for a year, before joining Carnegie Mellon University as a part-time instructor from 1956 to 1958. During this time, he also contributed as a chemist for Gulf Oil Corporation in Pittsburgh until 1959. Subsequently, he was hired by the Union Carbide Corporation as a chemist in the nuclear division, further progressing to an assistant group leader until his departure in 1965. Dr. Meisels began teaching chemistry at the University of Houston and later, the University of Nebraska, from 1965 to 1981.

After serving as the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences for the University of Nebraska in 1988, Dr. Meisels accepted the position of the provost and academic vice president of the University of South Florida for six years. Furthermore, he found success as the director of the Coalition for Science Literacy since 1994, having contributed as the director of the Suncoast Area Center for Educational Enhancement in the past. In a career filled with many highlights, he is particularly proud to have been elected as president of the American Society of Mass Spectrometry and to have produced numerous insightful publications in the field. Additionally, Dr. Meisels was pleased with his time as the dean of arts and sciences at the University of Nebraska.

Civically, Dr. Meisels has participated as the chairman of the Florida Coalition for Improving Mathematics and Science Education and held to posts of interim executive director, secretary, and president of the Ramsey Junior Chamber of Commerce. An expert in chemistry, he has also contributed an editor for the Journal of Radiation Physics and Chemistry in 1980. For his accomplishments in the industry, Dr. Meisels has been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship, honored as a Smith-Mundt Fellow, and recognized as a senior fellow of the Science Research Council in the past. In an effort to remain aware of developments in the field, he maintains an active membership with the Triangle Coalition for STEM Education, the National Alliance of State Science and Mathematics, and the Higher Education Consortium for Mathematics and Sciences.
