FAULKTON, SD, October 17, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Jean Marie Wik with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Wik celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A retired teacher, librarian and media specialist, Ms. Wik worked in the public school system for 38 years. Teaching elementary education in South Dakota and Minnesota between 1958 and 1971, she then moved into the role of a media generalist for several elementary and secondary schools in her area until 1996. While still in education, Ms. Wik also took on the role of fashion coordinator for Weekender Casual Wear between 1993 and 2001.

Ms. Wik is a longstanding member of the National Education Association. She has also been involved with numerous music groups such as the Landings Chorus and In Harmony: A Capella Triple Trio and has served as the chairman and area representative of the Christian Women's Club.

The recipient of numerous educational awards during her career, Ms. Wik has been showcased in more than a dozen editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who of American Women.

Deciding not to follow the career track that many women were entering during the 1950s, such as nursing and airline stewardess work, Ms. Wik instead followed her mother's lead by becoming a teacher. Earning a Bachelor of Arts at Northern State University in 1963, she quickly began teaching in the classroom and has never looked back. Going back to college to earn a Master of Arts in media at the University of Minnesota in 1972, she also became certified in media arts at the Minnesota State University, Mankato, in 1974. A new development at that time, Ms. Wik knew that media would become a career path that was in high demand. The Annehurst Curriculum Classification System and the computerized catalog were two very important technological advances she had the pleasure of learning. In fact, she served as the director of the Annehurst Curriculum Classification System project within the Bloomington Schools from 1976 to 1985, followed by a district media leadership position from 1990 to 1992.

Married to Richard Lyle Wik in 1958 until his passing on March 15, 2018 Ms. Wik is the proud mother of two children, grandmother of Allison Kleffman and Dr. Susan Wik, residing in Omaha, NE at Creighton University, and great-grandmother of Eden Grace Kleffman. Enjoying her retirement, she loves to sing and do songwriting. Involved in several musical programs at area assisted living and nursing homes, she also loves to speak before various Christian groups. She also conducts Bible studies and was a speaker/musician for Stonecraft Ministries in a 6-state area (North and South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Nebraska). In the 1980s she was a Christian songwriter and recording artist.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Jean Marie Wik has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
