Dr. Richard Boyd has written two books on astrobiology: "Stardust, Supernovae, and the Molecules of Life" and "Creating the Molecules of Life."
WINDSOR, CA, October 22, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Richard N. Boyd has been included in Marquis Who's Who. An expert in nuclear and particle physics, as well as astrophysics, Dr. Boyd has utilized a career's worth of knowledge in working with his students at The Ohio State University. In the past decade, he has applied his knowledge of those fields to an advance in the field of astrobiology. Previously Dr. Boyd served as a staff scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory from 2006 to 2010, a program director at the National Science Foundation, from 2001 to 2005 and an Associate Dean at Ohio State University from 1994 to 1997.
Prior to those appointments Dr. Boyd gained expertise in education and research with several other institutions, including the University of Rochester, where he worked as an Assistant Professor, as well as postdoctoral appointments at Stanford University, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and the University of Minnesota. He also served on program advisory committees at three accelerator facilities, and as a member of the ISOL {Isotope Separator On Line) Task Force.
After earning Bachelor of Science in Engineering degrees from the University of Michigan in physics and in mathematics in 1962, he was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Minnesota in 1967. He retains professional memberships in the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Physical Society, the American Astronomical Society, and the International Society for Study of the Origin of Life. He is proud to be an honorary Native American. In addition to many scientific articles, he has written two books on astrobiology: "Stardust, Supernovae, and the Molecules of Life" and "Creating the Molecules of Life." He has also written several books of fiction, including "Artificial Intelligence, Mankind at the Brink" and "Prairie Renaissance."
Due to his outstanding work in several fields, Dr. Boyd has been presented with Fellowships from the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and RIKEN, the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research of Japan, as an Eminent Scientist. He also received a Distinguished Research Award from Ohio State University, and has been listed in five editions of Who's Who in America. Dr. Boyd currently enjoys the life and benefits of Sonoma County, California, where he lives with his wife Sidnee. He has three daughters, Martha, Carol, and Rebecca, and a step-son Paul, as well as seven grandchildren.
