    CRYSTAL LAKE, IL, October 24, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Karen Meter with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Meter celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Ms. Meter is a music educator and veterans' advocate with more than 55 years of distinction in her field. Raised in a musically-inclined family, she began singing at her church at the age of four, and quickly learned to play piano, pipe organ, and guitar. Ms. Meter attended North Dakota State University, graduating in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science, and is a licensed secondary teacher in the state of North Dakota.

From 1965 to 1973, Ms. Meter served as an enlisted member of the U.S. Navy. She was stationed at Beaufort Naval Hospital from 1965 until 1968, a time she recalls as a highlight of her career. In 1968, she became a member of the U.S. Naval Reserve remaining until 1973. Ms. Meter became a choral music teacher at Watford City High School in North Dakota between 1971 and 1973.

In 1974, Ms. Meter pivoted her focus to music performance as a member of the Chicago Symphony Chorus and Chicago Chamber Choir, where she performed until 1976. In 1980, she opened Music Par Elegance of Crystal Lake, which she would run until 1995. Since 1995, Ms. Meter has been the owner of Burley Hollow in Crystal Lake.

Ms. Meter is proud to have served in the U.S. military and is consequently passionate about veteran's affairs service and policy. She is a member of the Women's Veterans' Committee and a former American Legion service officer to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center of North Chicago. Further, she is an active member of her faith community, and has been a member of Saint Mary Episcopalian Church since 1987. Ms. Meter also held the position of Veteran Service Officer at the Department of Veteran Affairs from 1997 until 2007. In her free time, Ms. Meter is an accomplished quilter and floral designer, and pursues freelance writing.
