Evangeline Canonizado Buell Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    OAKLAND, CA, October 28, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Evangeline Canonizado Buell with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Buell celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. With more than 35 years of experience, Ms. Buell has excelled as an event planner and an educator in consumer affairs. She began her career with the Consumers Cooperative of Berkeley, Inc. in 1958, rising to an education assistant for community relations in 1964 and a supervisor of the education department in 1973. From 1976 to 1978, she acted as an assistant to the director of education at the Consumers Cooperative of Berkeley, and as an education program coordinator between 1980 and 1984. Furthermore, Ms. Buell was a personnel training coordinator for the Consumers Cooperative from 1981 until 1988.

Evangeline Buell served as Events Director of International House at UC Berkeley from 1984 to 1993 fostering and promoting cultural exchange between American and international students organizing over 2,000 events a year.

She is a folk singer guitarist who performed on concert stage, radio and TV in the 1960s and 90s. She taught folk guitar for 25 years from the 1950s to 1980s in the Bay Area.

Ms. Buell attended San Jose State College between 1951 and 1952 and later attended San Francisco University in 1978.

Ms. Buell is an active member of the Filipino-American community, and is a President Emeritus of the Filipino American National Historical Society, with which she has held a variety of leadership roles and spearheaded oral history initiatives. She is the author of "Twenty-Five Chickens and a Pig for a Bride: Growing Up in a Filipino Immigrant Family," 2006, a memoir, and has co-edited two anthologies regarding the intricacies of the Filipino-American experience. Ms. Buell is an advocate for Asian art and is a former member of the Asian Pacific advisory council at the Oakland Museum and the Asian Art Museum based in San Francisco.
