Ms. Mary Emanuel Swain would be the first to say that her significant professional life accomplishments pale when compared with the pride she has for her beloved family.

WILLIAMSBURG, VA, November 01, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mary Emanuel Swain has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mary, the daughter of Stanley and Elly Emanuel, was born in Laconia, New Hampshire and attended grade and high school in the city's public school system. She completed her bachelors' degree in history at the University of New Hampshire. While at UNH she held leadership positions in student government, her Chi Omega sorority and the college weekly newspaper. At the time, she was lauded as the only female sports editor in New England. Upon graduation with honors, Mary parlayed her familiarity with several foreign languages into a glamorous position as a Trans World Airlines International flight attendant. She flew from New York to all of the European capitals. After her marriage, she moved into a second career as an advanced placement history and government high school teacher. In addition to her own professional careers, Mary provided outstanding support to her husband's military career during his assignments at nine locations. This involved leadership of Officer's Wives Clubs in England, Michigan and Nebraska, charity events, as well as, the gracious hostess for social events. Her accomplishments in this arena resulted in being named to the listing of America's Top Young Women of the Year in 1970. As her two beloved daughters were entering college, Mary started a career with the federal government. Progressing rapidly, she assumed senior positions as a Contracting Officer for the DOD and subsequently with the Department of Justice, U.S. Marshal Service. Upon retirement to Williamsburg in 2000, Mary utilized her expertise as a Professional Registered Parliamentarian to support numerous organizations. Among these were The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, Women's Club of Williamsburg, League of Women's Voters, Republican Women's Club, Virginia Federation of Republican Women and the International TWA Former Flight Attendants' Association. Mary would be the first to say that her significant professional life accomplishments pale when compared with the pride she has for her beloved family. They include daughters, Lisa and Kristi, both with graduate degrees, successful careers and three amazing grandchildren.
