Dr. Deborah Anne Dooley found success as an educator with Nazareth College for more than three decades.

At the start of her career with the institution, she served as an assistant professor for the department of English from 1981 to 1987. Soon thereafter, she became an associate professor for four years, before accepting the role of the chairperson for the department of English in 1988. Dr. Dooley further advanced with Nazareth College to become a full professor in 1993, and subsequently retired in 2015. In addition to her primary endeavors, Dr. Dooley also contributed as Director of Writing Programs, the Honors Program, Women's Studies, the Rosemary White Chair in English, later acting as the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences with Nazareth College, between 2003 and 2015.
An alum of Nazareth College, Dr. Dooley earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1975. Three years later, she graduated from the University of Rochester with a Master of Arts, further securing a Doctor of Philosophy from the renowned institution in 1981. Furthermore, Dr. Dooley concluded her academic efforts with a Master of Science in Education in 1990.
Civically, Dr. Dooley dedicated her time as a member of the advisory board and the chairperson of the committee for the National Council of Alcoholism and Drug Dependence in Rochester for six years. Additionally, she served as the president of the Sojourner House for two years. A published author, her written works include "Plain and Ordinary Things: Reading Women in the Writing Classroom," released by SUNY Press in 1995. Utilizing her expertise, Dr. Dooley has also contributed a number of articles to professional journals in the field.
To remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Dooley maintains affiliation with the Members of the Modern Language Association, the National Council of Teachers of English, and the Society for Technical Communication. An exceptional Marquis listee, she has been featured in 25th edition of Who's Who in the East. Enjoying her retirement, Dr. Dooley gardens, collects antiques, refinishes furniture, and plays golf during her spare time.
