Renowned as an ethicist, nurse, educator, and publisher, Ms. Curtin has served as a longtime partner of Metier Consultants in Cincinnati since 1988. Celebrating more than 50 years in the field, she began her career as a staff nurse at the Veterans Hospital in Cincinnati in 1965 and the Visiting Nurses' Association in Cincinnati in 1966. Ms. Curtin subsequently held teaching appointments at North Kentucky University, the College of Mount St. Joseph-on-the-Ohio, and the University of Cincinnati.

Ms. Curtin has conducted dozens of presentations in her area of expertise across the country. She has served as a consultant on nursing ethics for the Nursing Corps of the U.S. Air Force in Washington and as an organizational consultant for the Franciscan Sisters of Poor Health System in New York. In 2016, Ms. Curtin became affiliated with CGFNS International, Inc., the world's largest credentials evaluation organization for nursing and the healthcare community, as a consultant serving in the role of senior advisor for communications.

Published widely, Ms. Curtin released one of the first books on nursing ethics. Titled "Nursing Ethics: Theories and Pragmatics," she addresses ethics, as opposed to etiquette, and received an American Journal of Nursing Book of Year Award for her insight. She has, to date, released 17 award-winning books on nursing productivity and nursing ethics. Her body of work likewise includes "DRG: The Reorganization of Health" in 1984, "Curtin Calls" in 1986, "Cornerstones of Healthcare in the '90s" in 1991, and "Sunflowers in the Sand: Children's Stories of War" in 2000. Ms. Curtin has contributed chapters to 10 other books, numerous editorials in Nursing Management, where she was instrumental in the naming of the publication, and many more articles to various other professional journals since 1988, during which she has concurrently been an editor and publisher of the Journal of Clinical Systems Management. Since 2004, Ms. Curtin has been serving as a senior editor for American Nurses Today, the official journal of the American Nurses Association, and since 2009 has been an executive editor.

Ms. Curtin received a Diploma in Nursing at the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. An alumnus of the University of Cincinnati, she later received a Bachelor of Science in community health planning in 1976 and a Master of Science in health planning and administration in 1977. She also acquired an Master of Arts in philosophy at Athenaeum of Ohio in 1977. She is a registered nurse in the state of Ohio. Ms. Curtin notably received two honorary Doctors of Science from the Medical College of Ohio in 1996, and the State University of New York at Buffalo, as well as honorary Doctors of Science from the Medical College of Ohio in 2002.

To remain aware of developments in her field, Ms. Curtin is a member of the American Nurses Association, the International Academy of Nursing Editors and the National League for Nursing. She is also a member of the New York Academy of Political and Social Sciences and Sigma Theta Tau. Among numerous other recognitions, Ms. Curtin was a 2009 recipient of the Living Legend in Nursing Award from the American Academy of Nursing. She also received a 2007 Distinguished Nurse Award from the Virginia Mason Medical Center, 1990 Mary Hammer Greenwood Award from the Ohio Nurses Association, and the 1991 Outstanding Service Award from the Franciscan Sisters of Poor Health System. She was a 1983 American Academy of Nursing fellow as well. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Curtin has been featured in close to 40 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Nursing, and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.
