Born in Pierson, MI, Robert Wayne Stinson could not have known that his upbringing on a Midwestern farm could develop into a prolific career as a meat company executive. As a student, Mr. Stinson completed coursework related to farm work and agricultural arts. He graduated in 1970 with an Associate of Science from Davenport University in Michigan.
While pursuing his collegiate studies, Mr. Stinson was mentored by a senior associate when he began his career as meat manager at the Kroger Company in Grand Rapids, MI. Over the years, his career with the Kroger Company progressed, leading him away from the retail role and into a role as an assistant meat buyer, meat merchandising, and eventually an executive role within the procurement department in the corporate offices of the Kroger Company. Following his retirement from Kroger Company in 1986, he served as the vice president of national sales for the Grove Meat Company prior to his retirement in 1998.
With his wife of over fifty year, Altha Irwin, Mr. Stinson enjoys spending time with his children, Robert W. and Debra A., and their three grandchildren. Following his successful career in the meat industry, he currently enjoys traveling and long walks on the beach.
