Mr. Lombardi is a lawyer with more than 55 years of expertise in his field. The son of a judge, he was exposed to the legal profession early in his childhood, and only briefly considered pursuing a different professional path before deciding on the law. He attended the University of Akron, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1960, and completed a Bachelor of Laws in 1962 at Case Western Reserve University. Mr. Lombardi was admitted to practice law by the Ohio State Bar Association in 1962.
From 1962 until 2018, Mr. Lombardi found success as the principal and shareholder of Buckingham, Doolittle, and Burroughs. He served as the chairman of the firm's commercial law and litigation department from 1989 to 1999. Mr. Lombardi has been sworn to practice law before the United States District Court of Ohio for the North and South Districts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
An active patron of the arts, Mr. Lombardi is a trustee and member of the executive committee of the Ohio Ballet, as well as a member of the board of the Downtown Akron Partnership. He is a former editor of the Case Western Reserve Law Review, and has been the recipient of several accolades for his accomplishments in law, including being named Akron Banking and Financial Law's 2015 Lawyer of the Year, and an Ohio Super Lawyer from 2004 to 2008.
