Ms. Schaber is renowned as a physical therapist and a state legislator with more than 40 years of service to her field. One of eleven children, she remembers her mother telling her to go make a change rather than complaining if something is wrong, an attitude she credits for her decision to enter government service. She initially pursued an education at Southern Illinois University, earning an Associate of Arts in 1973as a Physical Therapist Assistant and a Bachelor of Arts in physiology in 1977. Ms. Schaber continued her studies with a Bachelor of Science in physical therapy from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, in 1980, and an Associate of Arts in natural resource technology from Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin, in 1985.

From 1980 to 1990, Ms. Schaber worked as a physical therapist practicing in several hospital settings and in a private practice. She taught in the PT Assistant program from 1990 to 1994 and then she practiced physical therapy at the Colony Oaks Care Center in Appleton, Wisconsin, from 1994 to 1998 and the Oshkosh Area School District from 1997 to 2007. Ms. Schaber subsequently served as a representative for District 57 of the Wisconsin State Assembly from 2009 to 2015, where she was instrumental in passing the Electronic Waste Recycling bill. Working with Republican colleagues to pass this bill was a legislative highlight for Ms. Schaber.

Since 2015, she has focused her efforts on volunteering and activism. Prior to her career in physical therapy, Ms. Schaber was a Peace Corps volunteer serving the community of Campino Grande, Brazil.

Moreover, Ms. Schaber is a volunteer physical therapist at her local health center. Additionally, she contributes her time and support to Habitat for Humanity. Likewise, Ms. Schaber is a member of the Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association and the American Physical Therapy Association.
