SAVANNAH, GA, November 13, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Suzanne Jackson with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Jackson celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Jackson is an artist and poet with more than 50 years of innovation in her disciplines. Learning quickly as a child how to draw from observation, she honed her skills in multiple forms of media, including painting and etching, and attended San Francisco State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1966. She returned to Yale University in 1990, completing a Master of Fine Arts. Her career includes periods as a professional ballet dancer, an elementary teacher, and a scenic designer, influences which Ms. Jackson synthesizes in her visual work.

Since 1966, Ms. Jackson has maintained a practice as a working studio artist. She was a first and second grade provisional teacher at 95th Street School in Los Angles, Watts Towers Arts Center and the Elliott-Pope Preparatory School in Idyllwild, California, as well as an instructor at Stanford University in 1972 after opening the seminal Gallery 32 in Los Angeles in 1968. She would remain the gallery's owner and director through 1970. Ms. Jackson has been the director of Sunflower-Seed productions since 1978 to the present, and spent significant time as a scenographer. In 1994, she became an assistant professor and scenographer at Saint Mary's College in Maryland, relocating to Savannah in 1996.

Ms. Jackson purchased a building in Savannah, and considers the city and surrounding areas to be her home and an inspiration to her work. She was a professor of painting at Savannah College of Art and Design from 1996 until 2009, and an adjunct professor between 2013 and 2016. Ms. Jackson has served as a visiting artist at various institutions, and featured in group and solo shows across the country spanning decades of work. She is the recipient of numerous grants and awards for her work, including fellowships from Idyllwild Associates and Yale Drama School, and a nomination by Betty Saar for the first National Award for the Visual Arts. She is a recipient of the 2019 Joan Mitchell Foundation Painting and Sculpting grant, with her first monograph "Suzanne Jackson: Five Decades", published by Telfair Museums, with distribution by Artbooks/D.A.P.

Her solo shows feature a body of highly textural, sculptural works speaking to the intersectionality of place, memory, and personal geography. To wit, they have included "Suzanne Jackson: NEWS!", Ortuzar Projects, New York City; "Suzanne Jackson - Five Decades," a retrospective at the Jepson Art Center and Telfair Museums, Savannah, Georgia, and "Suzanne Jackson, Monoprints: The Colored Garden," at the Carnegie Art Museum, Oxnard, California, among many others. Ms. Jackson's work is represented in museums and private collections worldwide. She is represented by Aaron Galleries (Glenview, IL), Ortuzar Projects (New York, NY) and O-Town House (Los Angles, CA).

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Suzanne Jackson has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
