Dr. Krohn is a talented timpanist and percussionist who recently retired in 2016 as a teacher and director of instrumental music after 30 years with the Montgomery County Public Schools in Rockville, Maryland. He retired as an adjunct professor of percussion at Montgomery College in 2014; he had served since 1997. However, he is active with the Capital Wind Symphony in McLean, Virginia, as a timpanist and principal percussionist. Furthermore, Dr. Krohn was a well-known member of the Wolftrap Orchestra, which performs for ballets, operas, Broadway shows and concerts, until he retired in 2016.

A talented musician who has been freelancing since 1984, Dr. Krohn has also excelled as both an artist and clinician with the Yamaha Percussion since 1989. To date, He has recorded over 40 albums. He has notably performed globally, and many of his performances can be found on YouTube. In 1985, Dr. Krohn authored "Guide to Orchestral Percussion Set-Ups."

A prominent figure in his field, Dr. Krohn served as a principal percussionist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in Tel Aviv from 1976 to 1985 and the director of music at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington in Rockville. He also worked as a percussion coach for the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras, a performing arts group in Bethesda, Maryland, from 1986 to 2014, where he instructed the percussion sections on how to play the music, produce the proper sounds required, conduct the percussion ensemble and make certain that players had the correct percussion instruments available to perform. In academia, Dr. Krohn found success as a senior faculty member at Tel Aviv University between 1981 and 1984 and a percussion teacher at both Howard University and the Catholic University of America in Washington between 1970 and 1976.

While proudly serving his country in the U.S. Navy between 1968 and 1972, Dr. Krohn was a timpanist and percussionist in the U.S. Navy Band in Washington. He initially obtained a Bachelor of Arts in music at Oberlin College in 1968. He subsequently earned a Master of Arts in music at Catholic University of America in 1971 and a Doctor of Music Arts from the Ruben Academy at Tel Aviv University in 1983. Dr. Krohn is also certified as a teacher in the state of Maryland.

Dr. Krohn is a member of the American Federation of Musicians. In 2013, he was presented with a National Blue Ribbon Award in Education. He previously received a 1998 Maryland Music Educators Association Award for Excellence and a 1987 Presidential Excellence in Education Award. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Krohn has been featured in Who's Who in Entertainment, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
