Dr. Janice Bell Meisenhelder has received multiple awards for both teaching and research, including the Nancy T Watts Award from the MGH Institute of Health Professions.

Dr. Meisenhelder is a professor of nursing with more than 30 years of service to her field. She attended Wagner College in New York, earning a Bachelor of Science before continuing her education at Boston University, where she would complete her Master of Science and her Doctor of Nursing Science degrees. Dr. Meisenhelder gained certification as a nurse educator in 2014.

Dr. Meisenhelder began her career in acute care and ICU nursing at Massachusetts General Hospital, advancing to a Unit Teacher position on cardiac and oncology units. She has held full-time faculty positions at Boston University and Northeastern University, followed by 18 years as Professor at the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. Dr. Meisenhelder currently serves as Professor of Nursing at Emmanuel College in Boston, teaching Advance Teaching Methods and Research methods in both the RN-BSN and Graduate programs.

Dr. Meisenhelder has 35 articles in academic journals, the majority of which are original research reports, as well as multiple book chapters. She is the author of "Comfort in Caring: Nursing the Person with HIV Infection" (1989), and "Surviving the Unthinkable: The Loss of a Child", released in 2017. She has received multiple awards for both teaching and research, including the Nancy T Watts Award from the MGH Institute of Health Professions. Dr. Meisenhelder is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, both Theta and Pi Epsilon chapters.
