ATLANTA, GA, November 21, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Douglas C. Huber, MD, FCAP, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Huber celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A celebrated physician of more than 50 years, Dr. Huber has garnered a laudable reputation as a pathologist and medical director on behalf of the Lost Mountain Tissue Bank in Georgia since 2003. He began his affiliation after departing from WellStar Cobb Hospital in Cobb County, Georgia, and WellStar Paulding Hospital in Paulding County, Georgia, where he had served as a laboratory director. Dr. Huber also held similar appointments at Roche Biomedical Laboratory in Georgia, WellStar Douglas Hospital in Georgia and Homer D. Cobb Memorial Hospital in Alabama. In 1999, he became the first physician to receive WellStar Health System's Best of the Best Award.

Outside of his full-time commitments, Dr. Huber served as a deputy state commissioner for the College of American Pathologists' inspector program in Skokie, Illinois, during the late 1970s. The College of American Pathologists is a member-based physician organization comprising approximately 18,000 board-certified pathologists that serves patients, pathologists and the public by fostering and advocating best practices in pathology and laboratory medicine. Dr. Huber is likewise a fellow of the College of American Pathologists and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Moreover, he is also a former vice president of the Alabama Association of Pathologists, and remains a member of the Cobb County Medical Society and the Medical Association of Georgia.

Deciding to specialize in pathology, Dr. Huber enjoyed the fact that of all the specialties in medicine, it was the most scientific. He values the ability to achieve absolute values in laboratories and absolute diagnosis on tissue specimens. Studying at the prestigious Harvard University in 1958 and 1959, Dr. Huber later completed his premed studies at Emory University in Atlanta where he achieved both a Bachelor of Arts in 1960 and a Doctor of Medicine in 1964.

After earning his degrees, Dr. Huber served to the rank of a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, and advanced to become the commander of the 346th Medical Detachment in Vietnam during 1966. He is notably board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and dermatopathology and is an ordained minister through Three Taverns Church in Acworth since 2012. He received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Antioch Bible Seminary in 2012.

Active in his community for many years, Dr. Huber was president of the Vietnam Veterans of Georgia between 1982 and 1985. Many years prior, he was named an Eagle Scout through the Boy Scouts of America in July 1952. He served two terms as commander of American Legion Post 140 and currently serves as post chaplain. He is also a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Huber has been featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the South and Southwest and Who's Who in the World.
