Mr. Perry concluded his teaching career in 2017, after more than 35 wonderful years teaching within the public school system of California. Contributing for 20 of those years at Gray Avenue Middle School in Yuba City, he also taught students at Woodlake Elementary School in Sacramento, and Notre Dame School in Marysville. Prior to entering education, Mr. Perry was the co-owner of Perry's Music in Marysville.
While teaching at Gray Avenue Middle School, Mr. Perry was instrumental in attaining funding for the school's theater. The money, which was allotted for stage lighting, enabled him to teach his students how to install and use them. During his years at Woodlake Elementary School, Mr. Perry was also recognized as Teacher of the Year for his contributions.
In 2009, Mr. Perry and his wife Janette, also a former teacher, established PnJ Travel in Marysville. Formerly treasurers of their local union, where they would often plan conference trips, the business was a natural progression for them. Over the past decade, the duo has assisted many clients in their travel ventures. They boast extensive expertise in cruises, as well as many of the top North American destinations. Both accredited cruise counselors through the Cruise Lines International Association, certified travel agents and Hawaii specialists, Mr. Perry and his wife have also completed specialized trainings with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines' University of WOW, Princess Cruises, Oceania and other cruise lines.
Mr. Perry received an Associate of Arts in liberal arts at Yuba Community College in 1971. He then acquired a Bachelor of Arts in drama in 1974 and a Master of Arts in educational administration at California State University in 1990. He is certified in Crossculture, Language and Academic Development. As a community leader, Mr. Perry coached for the Yuba Sutter Youth Soccer League for six years between 1990 and 1996. He was also a local actor, director, technician and board of directors member at The Acting Company between 1995 and 2000.
To remain aware of developments in his field, Mr. Perry was active as a member of the California Teachers Association and the Parent Teacher Association and a member and former treasurer of the Yuba City Teachers Association. Since retiring from education, he joined the California Retired Teacher Association. He is also a member of the Cruise Line Industry Association and the Knights of Columbus. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Perry has been featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in the West.
