Dr. Gonoi is renowned as an assistant professor of radiology at the University of Tokyo Hospital. A board-certified diagnostic radiologist with 15 years of excellence in medical research and practice, he initially pursued an education at the University of Tokyo, where he earned a Doctor of Medicine in 2005 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 2012. He also completed general residencies at Asama General Hospital in Nagano and the University of Tokyo Hospital from 2005 to 2007. Likewise, Dr. Gonoi garnered valuable expertise through specialist residencies in radiology at the University of Tokyo Hospital and Kanto Medical Center NTT EC between 2007 and 2009.

From 2009 to 2012, Dr. Gonoi excelled as a physician-radiologist at the University of Tokyo Hospital. He additionally flourished at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Medicine as a research assistant from 2009 to 2011 and an assistant professor of radiology in 2012. In addition to his duties at the University of Tokyo Hospital, Dr. Gonoi has found success as an invited associate professor in legal medicine at the Graduate School of Medicine of Osaka University since 2017.

Dr. Gonoi's research focuses on the relationship between the development of pancreatitis and the presence of pancreatic ductal anomalies, the diagnostic imaging of pancreatobiliary systems, postmortem imaging, and radiological findings in colorectal liver metastasis. He is the recipient of numerous awards for his research, including a University of Tokyo Medical Association Prize, Itai Award, Gold Medals, Silver Medals, and a Bronze Medal from the Japan Radiological Society, the Bayer Encouraging Prizes from the Japanese Society of Abdominal Radiology, and a Bronze Medal for scientific exhibition from the Asian-Oceanian Society of Radiology. Moreover, Dr. Gonoi is a member of the editorial board of the World Journal of Gastroenterology and a Committee Member of Japanese Postmortem Imaging interpretation Guideline.
