With 40 years of professional experience to his credit, Mr. Brandt has excelled as a founding member of Lyons, Brandt, Cook, and Hiramatsu since 1979. In addition to his primary roles, he has served as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Hawai'i William S. Richardson School of Law.

Mr. Brandt initially pursued an education with Cornell University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1964. He continued his studies with the aforementioned school, graduating with a Master of Business Administration in 1965. He concluded his academic efforts at the Cornell University School of Law, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence, with distinction, in 1972. A veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Brandt has been admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of Hawai'i, the Supreme Court of California, the United States District Court for the District of Hawai'i and the Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

A respected voice in his areas of interest, Mr. Brandt has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. He is a member of the Order of the Coif, Phi Kappa Phi, the State Bar of California Bar Association, the Hawai'i State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He formerly flourished as the editor of the Cornell Law Review. Mr. Brandt attributes his success to his exemplary determination as well as his common sense.
