MARIETTA, GA, December 03, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Judge Wayne E. Grannis has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Having accrued over 25 years of experience in the field of juvenile justice, Judge Grannis currently serves as the Juvenile Court Judge for Cobb County in Georgia. He previously held the role of a senior assistant district attorney on behalf of the Cobb County government in 2017, prior to which he found success as an assistant district attorney in Fulton County government from 2007 to 2012, whereupon, he was promoted to deputy district attorney where he served until 2017. Judge Grannis's inaugural position in the field of law was as a staff attorney where he found a mentor in Judge Sanford Jones who assisted him in becoming a patient and compassionate advocate for children and their families. Following his tenure as a staff attorney, Judge Grannis took on the role of a child advocate attorney where he represented the interests of abused and neglected children.

Before embarking upon his professional path, Judge Grannis initially became interested in the law through his participation in model United Nations and model Congress sessions in high school. Prior to and while in law school, Judge Grannis worked as a juvenile probation officer and investigator where he was exposed to all of the issues and problems in the child welfare system, and resolved to specialize in helping children and their families, which led to him enrolling at Georgia State University, from which he graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2003.

In civic endeavors, Judge Grannis has been active as a speaker at the local schools where he presents Legal Education and Awareness for Parents and Students (LEAPS), a program that he created, to assist children and their families to understand those situations and law of which students might run afoul. In addition, Judge Grannis works with local community groups where he lectures youth about the decisions they make in their lives and making better choices.

Furthermore, he created a specialty court known as Rebuild, Invest, Support, Integrate, and Graduate (R.I.S.I.N.G.) in his current role, which is dedicated to assisting youth who are at risk of gang involvement by providing a different perspective for the youth through cognitive behavioral therapy, life skills, mentoring, and education which can help the youths view their future in a different light and overcome the enticement to the gang subculture. For this and other such feats, Judge Grannis was the recipient of a national recognition for his distinguished efforts in gang prevention.

To remain aware of developments in the field of child welfare law, Judge Grannis researches new law and developments in child welfare, consults colleagues, and maintains his membership in the Council of Juvenile Court Judges and other organizations such as the Cobb County Bar Association, the Georgia Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. Adjacent to his career, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children and reading and playing golf in his spare time. Looking toward the future, Judge Grannis aspires to create a model court by facilitating a dialogue between multiple agencies to ensure best practices and outcomes for children and their families.
