Chin-Sen Ting, PhD, Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Ting has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the field of physics

Dr. Chin-Sen Ting is a professor of physics who has been affiliated with the University of Houston in the college of natural sciences and mathematics since 1976.

HOUSTON, TX, December 03, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Chin-Sen Ting, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Ting celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Ting is a professor of physics who has been affiliated with the University of Houston in the college of natural sciences and mathematics since 1976. Since joining the aforementioned university, he has aided in the graduation of 15 students with PhD's in physics and has supervised approximately 40 postdoctoral and research associates. Accepting the appointment of a full professor at the University of Houston in 1985, Dr. Ting previously found success at Brown University as a research associate and New York University as a postdoctoral fellow.

While working on semiconductor-related research during the mid-1980s, when the high temperature superconductivity in cuprate-oxide compounds were discovered, Dr. Ting began to shift his research efforts from semiconductor physics to superconductivity. In 1989, while teaching at the University of Houston, he became the principle investigator (or group leader) in the Theory Group at the Texas Center for Superconductivity of the University of Houston (TCSUH). A research center, set up by the State of Texas, primarily focuses on superconductivity and materials research, aiming to develop high temperature superconducting materials.
As a theorist in condense matter physics, Dr. Ting has been actively involved with studies related to semiconductors, magnetism, superconductivity, graphene, strongly correlated electron systems, and systems with spin-orbit couplings. Some of Dr. Ting's major contributions include many-particle effects in two-dimensional electron systems, non-equilibrium transport theory in semiconductors, and transport theories in superconducting copper-oxide materials and colossal magnetic magnetoresistance materials like Mn-oxide. In addition, he also made significant contributions to the understanding of various properties of superconductivity in copper-oxide materials, iron pnictides, and doped-topological insulators.

Dr. Ting's research had been supported by federal grants in the early days of his academic career. His recent research has been funded mainly by grants from the Robert A. Welch Foundation and TCSUH. As the result of his work, he has notably contributed more than 300 articles to published scientific journals, with more than 35 articles included in the Physical Review Letters, a leading physics journal. Dr. Ting also co-edited two scientific books: "Physics and Mathematical of Anyons" in 1991 and "Physics of Hot Electron Transport in Semiconductors" in 1992.

Born in Shanxi, China, Dr. Ting was raised in Taiwan, where he later obtained a bachelor's degree at National Taiwan University and a master's degree at National Tsinghua University. He also graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy in physics at the University of California San Diego. A fellow of the American Physical Society in the division of condensed matter physics, Dr. Ting has been featured in the 64th through 67th editions of Who's Who in America.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Chin-Sen Ting, PhD, has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
