TACOMA, WA, December 05, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Florence "See See" Rigney has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An experienced and respected nurse in her industry, Ms. Rigney is renowned as America's oldest nurse at 94 years old, having been active as a nurse for 74 years. Briefly retiring at the age of 65 in 1990 for a mere six months, she soon returned to work part-time two days a week. As a part of duties, Ms. Rigney performs lighter duties such as setting up rooms, helping to get patients on the table, getting monitors connected, etc. When she worked full-time at Nix Hospital in San Antonio, TX, she was responsible for all registered nurse duties.

For her admirable worth ethic, Ms. Rigney has been featured on "The Dr. Oz Show," "NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt" and many other television network programs. She currently excels in her duties at Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma. She has found further success as a nurse at Memorial Baptist Hospital, now known as Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, in Cheyenne, WY, and the Atlanta Medical Center, formerly known as Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta. Ms. Rigney has also served as a nurse in San Antonio, TX.

Ms. Rigney initially pursued an education at the Tacoma General School of Nursing in 1943 and graduated in 1946, though she states that many things in the field have changed since then. When she began nursing, penicillin had just been introduced. She believes that the biggest change she has witnessed over the years is that patients now go home one or two days after surgery, when they previously could have stayed in the hospital up to 10 days.

Ms. Rigney decided that she wanted to become a nurse ever since the age of six, at which time she had a mastoidectomy and developed an appreciation for the nurses. Her father did not want her to be a nurse, as he wanted her to go to business school, but she ignored her father's wishes. In 1943, America had entered World War II and transitioned the hospital to the Cadet's Nursing program, where Ms. Rigney worked as a nurse cadet.

Moreover, Ms. Rigney is a member of the American of Perioperative Registered Nurses and the American Nurses Association. She attributes her success to the love of her profession and her willingness to learn. Looking toward the future, Ms. Rigney plans to eventually stop nursing and enjoy the rest of her remaining years in good health while possibly completing some volunteer work.
